Sutter Caregivers Set To Announce Strike Deadline

SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- SEIU United Healthcare Workers will hold a press conference on Friday, Sept. 2, to announce a deadline for an unfair labor practice strike that would affect more than 8,000 caregivers in 13 Sutter facilities - the nation’s largest open-ended healthcare strike in two decades.

“The labor movement -- including unions within and without the AFL-CIO -- our community allies and public officials have never been more united in our fight for quality care at Sutter Health,” said Sal Rosselli, president of SEIU UHW. “While other health systems like Kaiser and Catholic Healthcare West, have worked hard to build a constructive relationship with their employees, Sutter Health has been aggressively fighting to silence their own caregivers. Of all the health systems in California, with the quality care problems at Sutter Health, this is the one that caregivers should have a strong voice in how care is delivered.”
