Supelco Signs Exclusive Distribution Agreement With MIP Technologies

ST. LOUIS, Nov. 27 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Supelco, a division of Sigma- Aldrich , announced today that it has signed an exclusive global distribution agreement with Lund, Sweden-based MIP Technologies AB. Under the agreement, Supelco will distribute the analytical and preparative Molecularly Imprinted Polymer (MIP) separation products. The Companies will collaborate on the development of new products. MIP Technologies will continue to separately develop its process scale separations business.

These new products contain MIP particles produced by MIP Technologies. MIPs are solid phase polymer materials manufactured with specific affinity for single compounds or classes of compounds. They are applied in pharmaceutical, food & beverage and forensic markets, veterinary institutes, environmental laboratories, and health agencies where they are used in isolating trace compounds from complex matrices.

Currently available MIP products include Solid Phase Extraction (SPE) cartridges for specific analysis of chloramphenicol, tobacco nitrosamine derivatives, triazines, clenbuterol and other beta-agonists, beta-blockers, as well as beta-receptors.

The application of MIP SPE cartridges enables straightforward sample preparation for trace analysis from complex matrices like milk, meat, or urine, resulting in significantly reduced analysis time and costs, increased sensitivity, and improved detection when compared to conventional methods.

“We are very pleased to further strengthen our sample preparation product offering with the addition of this MIP SPE design,” said Dave Julien, President of Sigma-Aldrich Research Specialties business unit. “In combination with our exclusive Solid Phase Micro Extraction (SPME), Flash, and classical SPE technologies, the addition of MIPs are expected to enhance Sigma-Aldrich’s Supelco brand as a strong provider of innovative and unique tools for analytical sciences.”

Anthony Rees, CEO of MIP Technologies, said: “This is a major step forward for our company in realizing its vision to become the number one supplier of MIP-based products. The partnership with Supelco and Sigma-Aldrich, gold standard companies in the separations arena, will create an unmatchable team in the development of selective separations materials. We are really excited by the business opportunities that this relationship will open up.”
