Robert A. Oakley Joins OHIC Board Of Directors

COLUMBUS, Ohio, Aug. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Dr. Robert A. Oakley, former executive vice president and chief financial officer for Nationwide Insurance, has been named to the OHIC Board of Directors, OHIC President and CEO Raymond R. Mazzotta announced today.

From 1976 through 2003, Oakley worked in a variety of financial-related positions for Nationwide, one of the world’s largest insurance and financial services companies. He served as the CFO from 1993 until his retirement in January 2003.

Oakley also was an adjunct professor of finance at The Ohio State University from 1976 through 1992. He was recently named the Shepard Executive-in-Residence at OSU’s Fisher College of Business.

Oakley sits on the board of directors of the Ohio Casualty Insurance Group and is the former board chairman for Junior Achievement of Central Ohio. He is a trustee of the Columbus Symphony Orchestra and the Methodist Theological School in Ohio.

Oakley earned a bachelor’s degree in aeronautical engineering from Purdue University in 1968. He earned an MBA in 1969 and a doctorate in finance in 1973, both from The Ohio State University.

The OHIC Insurance Company was founded in 1978 as the Ohio Hospital Insurance Company. The company’s mission was to supply Ohio hospitals with affordable medical liability insurance. The company later became the OHIC Insurance Company and is now a subsidiary of the Medical Liability Mutual Insurance Company of New York City. OHIC now supplies medical liability insurance to physicians and hospitals in Ohio.
