STOMACH cancer affects about 530 Victorians each year, more commonly people aged over 50. Now a team of Monash Institute of Medical Research scientists has zeroed in on a gene that may contribute to what causes it. As team leader Brendan Jenkins explains, the gene is overactive in not only stomach cancer but also lung cancer — the two most lethal cancers in the world.This gene is called STAT3?
