Michigan State Medical Society Offers Symposium On Health Care Reform

EAST LANSING, Mich., Sept. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Containing health care costs while providing appropriate care will be discussed at a "Symposium on Health Care Reform: Driving Health Care Forward" presented by the Michigan State Medical Society Foundation on September 21 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Radisson Hotel in Lansing.

Medical savings accounts, disease management and prevention, and physician supply will be discussed by some of the state's leading health care authorities including John Billi, MD, Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs at the University of Michigan Medical School, Thomas Simmer, MD, Chief Medical Officer for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, and Mary Beth Bolton, MD, Chief Medical Officer of the Health Alliance Plan, among many others.

The presidential candidates' platforms on heath care reform will be compared and contrasted during a luncheon panel discussion. Panelists will include the chair of the Michigan Democratic Party Mark Brewer, Republican congressional candidate John J.H. Schwartz, MD, and Crain's Detroit Business health care reporter Katie Merx.
