January 23, 2014 -- Grand Interactive today announced it has developed a mobile application to enable researchers and technicians equipped with iOS and Android-based mobile devices to obtain real-time performance data from Life Technologies’ ProFlex™ PCR System, which is used in genetic research. The award-winning, custom PCR Essentials app frees scientists and technicians to remotely monitor, review data and perform other tasks without being captive to the immediate vicinity of the instrument.
“Reliable thermal cycling is used to amplify DNA and is essential to genetic research, but mobile access frees lab personnel to simultaneously perform other tasks and share data with associates for increased efficiency,” said William Grand, founder and CEO of Grand Interactive. “Scientists can access their instruments during lab or off-site meetings, and instrument performance can even be monitored from home.”
PCR Essentials is an interactive tool that provides instant access to master mix calculators, how-to videos, and Life Technologies’ online product catalog. The app won a W3 Award from among 4,000 entries in a competition sponsored by the International Academy of the Visual Arts (IAVA).
The free PCR Essentials app is available for iPhone® and iPad® on the App Store™. Google Play™ carries the app for Android phones and tablets.
