Glowing Plant Kickstarter Project Retains Digital Marketing Agency, Command Partners

May 13, 2013 -- Glowing Plant uses synthetic biology and Genome Compiler’s software to actually create plants that glow in the dark. This project is the first step in creating sustainable natural lighting for the planet and the team behind it is seeking funding for the project, which is where Command Partners comes in. Glowing Plant has hired the top digital marketing agency in Charlotte, NC to help them raise the necessary funds and carry out their crowdfunding campaign.

How exactly does one create a glowing plant? There are three main steps to the process; design, print and transform. The design phase includes designing the DNA sequences using Genome Compiler, software which allows the team behind the glowing plants to easily design genetic sequences and order them online. The next phase, print, includes printing the DNA at Cambrian Genomics, the first hardware/system for laser printing DNA. Lastly, the transformation phase includes transforming the DNA into the target plant in the Glowing Plant lab.

Bioluminescence is the production and emission of light by a living organism. Essentially, the team is using the process described above to insert bioluminescence genes into two flowering plants, Arabidopsis and roses, to make plants that glow in the dark.

“Inspired by fireflies and aquatic bioluminescence, our team of Stanford-trained PhDs are using off-the-shelf methods to create real glowing plants in a do-it-yourself biolab in California” says Antony Evans, Project Manager of Glowing Plant. “The Glowing Plant is a symbol of the future, a symbol of sustainability and a symbol to inspire others to create new, living things.”

Command Partners will be heading public relations initiatives and social media management in order to direct users to the campaign page and convert them to backers of the project. In the past, Command Partners has worked with many high-level Kickstarter campaigns, such as the COOKOO Watch, the DeltaMaker 3D Printer and Phosphor Watches, and has the experience necessary to knock this project out of the park.

“Right off the bat, we knew this was a project we wanted to work with because it is a game-changer that’s working towards creating sustainable light for the greater good,” says Roy Morejon, President of Command Partners. “My team and I anticipate an extremely successful campaign that is sure to go down in Kickstarter history.”
