David M. Cordani Named President Of CIGNA HealthCare

PHILADELPHIA, July 28, 2005 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- CIGNA Corporation today named David M. Cordani as president of CIGNA HealthCare, one of the nation’s largest providers of group medical and specialty health care products and services.

Cordani assumes the role of president from H. Edward Hanway, who took on day-to-day leadership of the business in addition to his responsibilities as chairman and chief executive officer of CIGNA Corporation in 2003 following a management reorganization.

“Over the last two years, we’ve made significant progress on a number of fronts in our health care business,” said Hanway. “We’ve strengthened the leadership team and improved performance through a streamlined operating structure. Cordani has held several leadership roles within CIGNA over the last several years. His most recent responsibilities have included driving growth initiatives and the development of customer-focused long-term business strategies in CIGNA HealthCare, including the enhancement of CIGNA HealthCare’s portfolio of products and services.

He previously served as CIGNA HealthCare’s chief financial officer, as president of the Southeast region and as CFO for CIGNA HealthCare Field Operations. He also has served as controller for CIGNA Corporation. He holds an MBA in marketing and several financial designations, including Certified Public Accountant and Chartered Financial Consultant.

He will continue to be based in Bloomfield, Conn., where CIGNA HealthCare is based.
