Atrial fibrillation is a major public health problem in the United States and is a major risk factor for stroke and heart failure. New medical devices to image, map and systematically ablate the atria have shown promise for restoration of sinus rhythm, however the optimal technique, short and long term safety and durability and adjunctive medical therapy all remain areas of concern.
