Ann Arbor IT Zone Release: Quarterly Event Sprouts Focuses On Diagnostic Companies In Life Sciences Sept. 28 In Ann Arbor

ANN ARBOR, Mich., Aug. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- The quarterly event Sprouts, co- sponsored by the Ann Arbor IT Zone, MichBio and Arboretum Ventures, will highlight diagnostic companies in the life sciences industry on Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2004 at the Ann Arbor IT Zone Launch Pad, 330 East Liberty Street in downtown Ann Arbor.

The keynote speaker is Mike Fitzgerald, director of business development for Roche Diagnostics. Roche Diagnostics is the market leader in diagnostics with core businesses in diabetes care, molecular diagnostics and immunochemistry. Roche is planning 20 major product launches for each of the next five years. Fitzgerald will discuss the future of diagnostics and its importance to the future of medical care.

The featured company is HandyLab, a spinout from the University of Michigan that has developed a revolutionary new way to diagnose infections in 30 minutes with excellent accuracy. HandyLab CEO Jeff Williams will share an overview of this company and his view of the future of diagnostics.
