MT. LAUREL, N.J., Jan. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- William J. Haggett, President and CEO of AmeriHealth New Jersey, will serve as a panelist during the first Rutgers-Camden Quarterly Business Outlook of 2005. Representing the health care sector, Mr. Haggett joins other distinguished guest panelists, including the treasurer of the State of New Jersey, John McCormac.
The Rutgers-Camden Quarterly Business Outlook is sponsored by the School of Business at Camden and the Chamber of Commerce of Southern New Jersey, where Mr. Haggett serves as a member of the Board of Directors. The program offers candid reports keyed to the economic health of southern New Jersey and southeastern Pennsylvania, and will take place at the Clarion Hotel in Cherry Hill, NJ on January 6 at 8:30 in the morning.
As health care inflation and utilization continue their steep increases, the burden of providing an employee health benefit is becoming increasingly difficult for private and government employers. Mr. Haggett will discuss the factors driving higher health care costs and the challenges facing the region’s health care delivery system. He will also discuss various legislative proposals concerning access to and affordability of health care.
“I look forward to participating in this prestigious program,” said Mr. Haggett. “The rising cost of health care is having a devastating impact on human resources budgets throughout the region. As a member of the board of directors of the Chamber of Commerce of Southern New Jersey, and as the leader of one of the region’s leading health insurance carriers, I can tell you first hand that the cost of health care is the number one concern of employers that provide an employee health benefit.”
In addition to the topics covered by state treasurer McCormac and Mr. Haggett, John McWeeney, Jr., market president for Bank of America, and Timothy Wilmott, COO of Harrah’s Entertainment, will discuss issues relative to their industries and the region’s economy.
