Week in Review: Amgen Partners With ShanghaiTech on China R&D Center

September 28, 2013 --Amgen signed a MOU with ShanghaiTech University under which Amgen will locate R&D centers at two of the university’s institutes; JHL Biotech, a Taiwan startup formed by Genentech veterans, will build a biologic manufacturing facility in Wuhan’s Biolake Park; Shenzhen device maker Mindray Medical acquired Ulco Medical, its distributor in Australia, New Zealand and Oceana; Sinochem Jiangsu Pharma acquired China distribution rights for generic mecobalamin tablets from Suzhou Amerigen Pharma; Boehringer Ingelheim completed a $95 million expansion of its Shanghai production facility; and Shenzhen is proposing to build a new biotech park, Shenzhen International Bio-Valley.
