Kinetic Concepts, Inc. Buys Massachusetts Skin-Grafting Technology Company for Undisclosed Amount

Kinetic Concepts Inc. (KCI) has bought out MoMelan Technologies Inc., a privately held medical company that specializes in developing skin-grafting solutions for patients. Cambridge, Mass.-based MoMelan is a spin-off company from the labs of Professor Rox Anderson at Massachusetts General Hospital. Financial terms were not disclosed. The technology uses a patient’s own skin for epidermal graft procedures either in a doctor’s office or outpatient setting. Company officials say the procedures are quick and relatively painless. “MoMelan will strengthen KCI’s reputation as an innovation leader and nicely complement our objective to meet the evolving needs of our customers,” says KCI President and CEO Joe Woody.
