Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute Hires Vice President, Marketing and Business Development

WAYNE, PA--(Marketwire - February 23, 2010) -

CLSI recently hired Barbara Goldsmith, PhD, FACB as Vice President, Marketing and Business Development.

With her years of clinical laboratory experience, relationship-building, teaching, and leadership ability, Barbara brings exciting new ideas, energy, and enthusiasm to this new role here at CLSI," says Glen Fine, MS, MBA, CAE, CLSI Executive Vice President.

In her new role, Dr. Goldsmith will oversee the development and implementation of new business development and marketing strategies and programs that build CLSI's visibility and leadership, and support the organization's mission, strategic plan priorities, and brand value.

Dr. Goldsmith comes to CLSI with the unique perspective of having worked in laboratory services for nearly 30 years. Before coming to CLSI, she was Vice President of Laboratory Services at Caritas Christi Health Care in Boston, Massachusetts, and before that as the Executive Director of the Health Alliance Laboratories in Cincinnati, Ohio. She has also been the Director of Laboratory Services and Director for Clinical Chemistry at St. Christopher's Hospital for Children in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Dr. Goldsmith has experience in nonprofit associations, including her elected position as President of the American Association for Clinical Chemistry (AACC), where she now serves as immediate past president. She also chairs the Emerging Countries Task Force. She has also been a member of over a dozen other major committees including a past member of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services' (CMS') Clinical Laboratory Improvement Advisory Committee (CLIAC).

Barbara has achieved the status as Clinical Professor at Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston and has previously been appointed as Associate Professor at other universities including MCP Hahnemann (now Drexel University School of Medicine) in Philadelphia and the University of Cincinnati School of Medicine. She has extensive lecturing experience at national and international meetings and has authored more than 100 publications.
