Arteriocyte Inc. has sold its medical device business, but its small local office will remain open.
In October, Isto Holdings of St. Louis acquired Arteriocyte Medical Systems Inc., which sells the Magellan, a device that surgeons and researchers use to separate blood plasma into Platelet Rich Plasma and Platelet Poor Plasma. Isto Holdings also bought the right to the Arteriocyte name. Thus, the Hopkinton, Mass.-based stem cell technology company plans to change its name to Compass Biomedical by year’s end, said general manager Kolby Day.
