NEW YORK, Jan. 9 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- American Oriental Bioengineering, Inc. , a leading manufacturer and distributor of plant-based pharmaceutical and nutraceutical products in China, today announced the national launch in China of Jinji Yi Mu Cau, a dissolving powder pill designed to regulate the menstrual cycle and alleviate pre-menstrual cycle pain, which the Company believes impacts over 250 million women in China each year. Jinji Yi Mu Cau is part of the Jinji family of products that was acquired through the Company's purchase of GLP in April 2006. AOB plans to significantly broaden the exposure of this product throughout China via its large distribution network as well as through a focused, nationwide marketing campaign.
The Company will kick off the new product launch at its sales conference in mid-January 2007 when AOB management will meet with product distributors from all over China to discuss the new marketing plan for the product and allow distributors to place orders. A nationwide television campaign for the Jinji Yi Mu Cau product will commence at the same time as the sales conference. AOB expects this product to be available across the Company's distribution network in the first half of the first quarter 2007.
Tony Liu, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of AOB commented, "We are pleased to announce the launch of Jinji Yi Mu Cau and believe the nationwide introduction of this product furthers our position as a leading brand in women's health throughout China. This new product is an important extension to our Jinji line and reflects the ongoing product opportunities we are deriving from the acquisition of GLP. We expect the addition of Jinji Yi Mu Cau into our large distribution network to drive strong product volume and establish an additional stream of recurring revenue for our business."
Tony Liu continued, "We believe the market opportunity for the Jinji Yi Mu Cau dissolving powder pill is a very compelling opportunity for our business and one that will continue to grow in the coming years. Jinji Yi Mu Cau is covered by the PRC's social health insurance system, so it is affordable and accessible to a large number of Chinese women who have irregular menstrual cycles and endure pre-menstrual pain. We believe our brand strength and ability to scale new products across our established distribution network will continue to uniquely position our business for continued growth in the current fiscal year and beyond."
