Virostat Inc. Release: New HPV Monoclonal Antibodies

Human Papillomaviruses are DNA viruses that infect human epithelial cells. There are numerous HPV types, some which cause common skin warts while several other types are known to cause cancer.

Those types which are sexually transmitted can cause genital warts and cervical cancer. Currently there are several vaccines in use based upon the L1 major virus capsid proteins of the high-risk HPV types.

ViroStat has released a new set of monoclonal antibodies to HPV L1 capsid proteins. Several are type-specific (type 16 & type 18) and others are pan-specific reacting with all types tested (9). All function in ELISA, some in IHC others in western blot immunoassay.
