ST. PAUL, Minn., April 21, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Two pharmacists from Prime Therapeutics LLC (Prime), a pharmacy benefit manager serving nearly 26 million members nationally, were recognized for achievement in their industry by the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy (AMCP) at its annual meeting this week in San Francisco.

AMCP recognized Patrick Gleason, PharmD, FCCP, BCPS as a Fellow with their organization. Dr. Gleason’s tenure, commitment to AMCP and excellence in his field has earned him this distinction. This year, three AMCP members were awarded the Fellow designation bringing the total number of AMCP members with Fellow status to 25. In his current role as director of health outcomes at Prime, Dr. Gleason leads Prime’s clinical health outcomes assessment team in the development and improvement of pharmacy benefit management programs. He has more than 40 peer-reviewed publications in medical and health policy journals. Dr. Gleason completed his Bachelor of Science and Pharmacy Doctorate degrees at the University of Minnesota. He also completed an Ambulatory Care Pharmacy Practice Residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center followed by a Fellowship in Outcomes Research through the University of Pittsburgh, School of Pharmacy. Dr. Gleason is an Adjunct Professor of Pharmacy at the University of Minnesota, College of Pharmacy and he has previously been recognized for his excellence in the practice and science of clinical pharmacy as an elected Fellow of the American College of Clinical Pharmacy (FCCP).

“I am truly honored to be recognized by AMCP as a Fellow in their organization,” said Dr. Gleason. “To be chosen among my peers in this rigorous process is humbling and it makes me proud to continue contributing to the important work of our field and the AMCP organization.”

Abigail Stoddard, PharmD, MBA, will be awarded AMCP’s inaugural New Practitioner award for her significant contribution to managed care pharmacy within five years of graduating. Dr. Stoddard’s commitment to her field started in graduate school. She successfully grew the University of Minnesota’s AMCP chapter from nonexistent in 2009, to nearly 100 members in 2015. Dr. Stoddard came to Prime in 2013 in the clinical area, but she recently moved to a new role as a principal government affairs consultant for Prime. She now works on public policy efforts across 13 states and educates legislators on issues impacting pharmacy benefit management. Dr. Stoddard earned her Bachelor of Science, Doctorate of Pharmacy and Master of Business Administration degrees from the University of Minnesota.

“To be awarded the AMCP’s New Practitioner award in its first year is an incredible privilege,” Dr. Stoddard said. “I hope I can bring inspiration to other new graduates that they can make an impact on their field in a short amount of time, and their contributions will be noticed.”
