TissueLink Medical was granted 510(k) clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to market the Aquamantys(TM) System on October 25, 2005. This System is designed to seal blood vessels in soft tissue and bone during a wide variety of surgical procedures in order to reduce blood loss and the risk of transfusion. The Aquamantys System works by combining a bipolar electrosurgical generator with a rotary peristaltic pump to provide simultaneous delivery of radio-frequency energy and saline when used with Aquamantys hand-held disposable devices. The saline cools the tissue as it is treated and evenly conducts the energy into the tissue to seal blood vessels.
“We are very pleased that MassMEDIC has honored us with this award,” stated Jacqueline Eastwood, TissueLink’s President and Chief Executive Officer. “This award recognizes the efforts of the employees of TissueLink Medical to develop innovative devices which are designed to assist surgeons to reduce surgical blood loss and its associated intra- and post-operative complications while also helping to improve patient outcomes.”
