January 29, 2007 – According to French reports, Sanofi-Aventis and Bristol-Myers Squibb signed an agreement last week that will pave the way for a merger between the two big pharmas; MDS will purchase Molecular Devices for $615 million; Introgen released positive news from a Phase II trial of its cancer vaccine; a flu vaccine from GlaxoSmithKline has been accepted for review by European authorities; Sunesis will put treatment-sensitive lung cancer patients into Stage 2 of a Phase II test; OSI Pharma and Roche received approval in Europe of Tarceva for pancreatic cancer; Sequenom will collaborate with Lenetix to develop a Rhesus D incompatibility test; and OncoGenex set terms for its IPO.
