Based in Israel, BioPad, Ltd. is a research and development organization with proprietary technology and expertise in the area of non-invasive medical monitoring. Synova holds the exclusive North American distribution rights for a non-invasive fetal monitor under joint development.
Recently, BioPad, Ltd. successfully satisfied its obligations to Synova by delivering a prototype of the fetal monitor - which has now entered human testing. Synova and BioPad, Ltd. have successfully completed testing of the first five subjects as part of an ongoing clinical research program. This revolutionary device provides a non-invasive means of monitoring fetal movement during the last trimester of pregnancy. Unlike ultrasonic techniques, this non-invasive fetal monitor does not impart any energy into either the pregnant mother or her fetus. The device is anticipated to provide a safe and accurate appraisal of fetal movement. Clinical trials are expected to be initiated in the U.S. later in 2006.
