Surefire Medical, Inc., Maker of Cancer-Drug Catheters, Raises $16.4 Million From 30 Investors

Surefire Medical Inc., a startup making cancer-drug delivery catheters, raised $16.4 million from 30 investors, funding the company’s expansion. Westminster-based Surefire Medical makes a specialized catheter that radiologists and oncologists use to deliver liquid beads of chemotherapy or radiation directly into the cancerous part of a patient’s liver. The catheter also is being explored for other uses, including fighting obesity.
