Rimouski and Laval, October 17, 2013. –A strategic partnership agreement to develop marine biotechnologies was recently signed by Centre de recherche sur les biotechnologies marines (CRBM) and Centre national de biologie expérimentale (CNBE) of Institut national de recherche scientifique (INRS). The agreement provides CRBM with a research site, the only one in Québec, where it can develop new products for its industrial partners, whereas CNBE will enjoy greater worldwide access to projects on biological materials of marine origin.
“Our partnership with CNBE will speed up targeted applied marine biotechnology research and development, particularly on pharmaceuticals, industrial bioproducts, natural health products, and nutraceuticals,” explains Dr. Guy Viel, Executive Director of CRBM.
“Thanks to this agreement, CRBM and its researchers and clients will be able to use CNBE’s facilities and expertise to conduct safety, pharmacokinetic, and efficacy studies on compounds in animals,” adds Dr. Mario C. Filion, Director of CNBE-INRS.
