Somnia Anesthesia, a leading national anesthesia practice management company, has announced a new resource document which guides newly-graduated anesthesiologists and certified registered nurse anesthetists (CRNAs) through the first steps of launching an anesthesia career. It delineates the different potential practice opportunities for anesthesia graduates, the components of the recruitment process, and the most effective tactics to ensure a successful and fulfilling job placement.
The document, entitled “A New Graduate’s Guide to Anesthesia Careers,” provides three questions for recent graduates, and then comprehensively answers them in a way that allows for the different possibilities and needs of clinicians based on the path they choose. The three questions are:
- How do you prepare?
- What do recruiters look for?
- What should you know by the end of the interview?
In the answers to these questions, Somnia includes specific tips, such as the outline of an effective Curriculum Vitae, as well as detailed explanations, including the consequences of feigned interest in a position and how to consider and review compensation and benefits packages.
“Most new graduates have not had many opportunities to interview,” says Marina Ring, Somnia’s Chief Administrative Officer. “This document comprehensively prepares new anesthesiologists and CRNAs for the recruitment and interview process by providing important questions to ask and guidelines to follow, as well as more specific tips, such as how to evaluate a compensation and benefits package. But more importantly, it details to new anesthesiologists and CRNAs how to think critically about their own personal priorities, and how to use those to successfully find a job that aligns with their particular needs and skills.”
