December 07, 2011 -- Recipharm today presents its Annual International Environmental Award to Professor Benoit Roig of Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Santé Publique (EHESP) in France. The award ceremony will be held at EHESP in RENNES, December 13th.
Recipharm’s International Environmental Award is presented annually for the best environmental performance or environmental innovation within the pharmaceutical industry or the academic world. Since Recipharm was founded in 1995, our environmental work has played a central part in the way we do business.
The award justification:
“Professor Benoît Roig has through his highly recognised research brought new and valuable knowledge which encourages the sustainable use of pharmaceuticals. This has been demonstrated through his dedication and persistence in finding new techniques for environmental and health applications in the field of coupling recognition systems and detection devices. Together with his team, specific methodologies have been developed which monitor pharmaceutical pollutants in water, helping to identify and lower the presence of pharmaceuticals in the environment”.
Professor Roig commented “I am honoured and very proud to receive this award. It recognises the work of the lab and encourages us to continue our work in this field”.
Lars Backsell, Chairman of Recipharm, said “Professor Roig’s work is an excellent example of how academic research is having a positive impact by highlighting the responsible use of pharmaceuticals in our environment”.
