MedTech Innovator Selected to Lead the Diagnostics and Medical Devices Hub of the BARDA Accelerator Network

– MedTech Innovator Vantage to support the advancements of novel diagnostics and medical devices –

LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--#BARDA--MedTech Innovator (MTI), the world’s largest accelerator of medical technology, today announced that it has been selected as the Diagnostics and Medical Devices Hub of the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA) Accelerator Network (BAN). The network fosters the growth of the health security innovation ecosystem to accelerate the development of next-generation medical countermeasures (MCMs).

MTI’s BAN Diagnostics and Medical Devices Hub, MedTech Innovator Vantage, is one of five strategic BAN hubs. Vantage will advance next-generation diagnostic and medical device technologies to strengthen the diagnosis of health security threats and response to public health emergencies. Vantage will support medical technology relevant to the BARDA mission, including diagnostic and patient monitoring platforms for use across the care spectrum, including point-of-care and at-home use, pathogen-agnostic detection tools, and medical devices that enhance clinical decision-making and improve on-site clinical care.

Founded in 2012, MTI has established itself as one of the most active programs advancing medical technology to market, consistently identifying high-potential innovations at every stage of development and providing them with the investment and industry access needed to succeed commercially. In 2025, MTI portfolio companies raised over $1.8B in equity funding, which accounted for approximately 20% investment deals in the medtech sector1.

“Health security depends on technologies that can rapidly diagnose both known and emerging threats and can be used at the point of need,” said Brian Benson, Managing Director of Government and Sponsored Programs at MedTech Innovator. “Vantage leverages MTI's decade-built relationships and resources to advance BARDA's mission, providing the mentorship, funding, and strategic access to ensure that a diagnostic or device reaches everyone who needs it. We are honored to be entrusted with this hub and committed to advance the mission.”

MedTech Innovator Vantage will select up to 10 companies annually to participate in its accelerator, a four-month program providing in-depth, customized mentorship from senior industry leaders, educational curriculum, and engagement with peers and advisors. Vantage will also award non-dilutive funding to support development, evaluation, and validation projects for technologies that advance preparedness for and response to health security threats.

The BARDA Accelerator Network comprises five hubs, each focused on a distinct technology area. In addition to Vantage, these include the BioTools Innovator Vanguard focused on advancing innovations in drug discovery and development, biomanufacturing, and bioanalytic and diagnostic instrumentation to improve R&D, preparedness and response; Paratus Digital Health Hub focused on the development and application of digital health tools to empower people to prepare for and respond to health security threats and improve the continuum of clinical care; the Special Populations Acceleration, Research and Knowledge (SPARK) Hub focused on the acceleration and development of technologies and startups that promote health security for special populations, with a primary focus on pediatrics; and, the Vaccine Innovation and Therapeutics Acceleration Launchpad (VITAL) focused on therapeutics and vaccine innovation.

Applications for the MTI Vantage funding solicitation are now open. Companies are also invited to join the waitlist for the MTI Vantage 2027 Accelerator application, which will open in October.

This project has been supported in whole or in part with federal funds from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services; Administration for Strategic Preparedness and Response; Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA), under agreement number 75A50126T00003.
