CRANBURY, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Physicians’ Education Resource® (PER®), the nation’s leading resource for oncology and hematology continuing medical education (CME), announces the full agenda for the 36th Annual Miami Breast Cancer Conference®. The conference will be held March 7-10, 2019, at the Fontainebleau in Miami Beach, Florida, and will be chaired by Patrick I. Borgen, M.D., chair of the department of surgery at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York.
“The Miami Breast Cancer Conference® is one of our most impactful conference of the year,” said Phil Talamo, president of PER®. “Each year we look forward to educating health care professionals on new breast cancer treatments and presenting an opportunity for them to network with their peers and discuss different perspectives on pressing issues in breast oncology.”
The following co-chairs will join Borgen during the conference:
- Elizabeth Mittendorf, M.D., Ph.D., Robert and Karen Hale distinguished chair in surgical Oncology; director, breast immune-oncology program Dana-Farber/Brigham and Women’s Cancer Center.

For 36 years, the Miami Breast Cancer Conference® has brought together surgical, medical and radiation oncologists, as well as geneticists, pathologists, radiologists and supportive-care specialists, to foster awareness of state-of-the-art treatments for all stages and subtypes of breast cancer, provide expert perspectives on areas of clinical uncertainty or controversy and encourage attendees to engage in cross-team cooperation in their clinics. The four-day interactive conference will explore all aspects of treatment and management of breast cancer, including screening, molecular and genetic testing, detection, primary treatments and patient-support strategies. The conference will also feature a special patient communication workshop, specialized programming on issues related to young women with breast cancer and a discussion about physician burnout.
To kick off the conference, a new format will give attendees the opportunity to register for a mini-symposium that will take place Thursday, March 7. This special session will follow the format of tumor boards that take place at cancer care institutions around the world. Throughout the day, a series of 15 to 20 breast cancer patient cases will be presented, each highlighting an important clinical challenge faced by breast cancer care providers. A world-class multidisciplinary clinical team, composed of members of the conference faculty, will share their approaches and perspectives for the questions at hand in the context of current evidence and best practices, with the ultimate goal of reaching consensus toward management.
