Phoenix Data Systems Records First Quarter Bookings of $5.8 Million

KING OF PRUSSIA, Pa., April 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Phoenix Data Systems (PDS), the leading Full Service Electronic Data Capture (EDC) solutions provider for clinical trials, announces robust sales figures for the first quarter of 2007. Bookings for the quarter exceeded $5.8 million through 26 new commitments for projects in all trial phases, including four pivotal Phase III studies. These projects include awards from six previous clients as well as 11 new companies. This strong first quarter follows a record-breaking fourth quarter (2006) that saw bookings exceed $9.5 million.

"These consistent results reflect a broad-based endorsement of PDS' unique business model and personalized, service-oriented approach," said Dr. William Claypool, CEO of PDS. "The Full Service EDC combination of advanced technology and clinical expertise delivers the results these companies are looking for without the operational burdens, with less risk and at greater speed."

The new client commitments come from companies of all sizes, including multibillion-dollar international pharmaceutical companies, CROs, device companies and early phase biotechnology firms. Services available to all PDS clients include EDC, Interactive Voice Response (IVR) (with Drug Shipment Tracking, ePRO, and Clinical Randomization) and Full Service Data Management.

As sponsors examine the best paths available to achieve clinical trials success, an increasing number are realizing that ownership of the complex processes and responsibilities associated with eClinical deployments may not be the best avenue to achieve results. It is increasingly accepted by sponsors that the benefits of outsourcing eClinical technologies outweigh those of in- house options. Sponsors can, in fact, achieve results faster -- at no greater cost and with higher success rates -- through outsourcing. Forward thinking sponsors are not asking whether or not they can "do" EDC; rather, the question is, "Why are we stuck doing trials the same way as we did them five years ago?"
