Omni-Tract® Surgical Introduces Speed-Tract(TM) Ring Retractor New Retractor Reduces Weight and Offers Surgeons Improved Surgical Access

ST. PAUL, Minn., April 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Omni-Tract Surgical, Inc. a market leader in table-mounted surgical retractors, announced the introduction of their new Speed-Tract(TM) retractor system at the Association of periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN) annual meeting today. The Speed-Tract is designed for surgeons who prefer to use a "ring" style retractor. The system significantly reduces weight which makes transport and handling of historically heavy instrument trays easier for nurses and staff.

In addition to reducing the weight of the system by as much as 20%, the system incorporates several enhanced product features not available from competitive ring retractors. The Speed-Tract sets up more quickly, requires fewer parts and is far more adjustable than other ring retractor systems.

"While ring retractors have a strong following in the surgical community, their design has remained largely unchanged since its introduction decades ago," said Dan Reuvers, President of Omni-Tract Surgical. "We have designed a product that addresses the occupational hazard of carrying heavy instrument trays, as well as brought a host of improvements for the surgeons. We were careful, however, to ensure that the system remains simple and intuitive to use, including making all of the new parts compatible with their current systems."

The Speed-Tract table mounted retractor system includes a table post, a flex arm, "lite" rings, RatchetBall(TM) clamps and swivel shafted blades. Each of these products reduces weight and/or enhances features. Omni-Tract Surgical expects to begin shipping Speed-Tract systems immediately.
