Ohio Sues Big Drugmakers Over Medicaid Pricing

Ohio on Tuesday became the latest U.S. state to sue big drugmakers, including Schering-Plough Corp. and Abbott Laboratories Inc., accusing the companies of defrauding the state on pharmaceutical prices in its Medicaid program. The Ohio attorney general in a civil suit accused Schering-Plough, Abbott, Pharmacia, now part of Pfizer Inc., and Dey, a unit of Germany’s Merck KGaA, of giving “false and misleading” price information and inflating prices for prescription drugs.
