Nymox Pharmaceutical’s (NASDAQ:NYMX) TobacAlert(TM) product provides an easy-to-use, cost-effective means of on-site testing for second-hand smoke exposure without the need for instruments, equipment or specialized training. A new study published in The Lancet (Aug.19, 2006) from McMaster University concluded that exposure to second hand smoke increased the risk of heart attack in both former smokers and nonsmokers. People in the study with the highest levels of second-hand smoke exposure (22 hours or more per week) had a 45 percent increased risk of heart attack. The findings were based on data from 52 countries and over 27,000 individuals.
