Neuro Kinetics, Inc. To Showcase New I-Portal(R) VNG at Audiology Now Conference

PITTSBURGH, April 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Neuro Kinetics, Inc. (NKI), manufacturers of medical diagnostic equipment used worldwide, said today that it will showcase its recently introduced I-Portal(R) VNG (Video Nystagmography System) at the Audiology NOW conference, being held next week in Denver, Colorado.

The product is used by audiologists and other clinical specialists, including otolaryngologists and neurologists, for early disease detection and to diagnose balance disorders and evaluate dizziness complaints.

The I-Portal VNG enables high-speed (60-90Hz), 4D eye tracking with torsion and pupilometry. It features lightweight and easy-to-use goggles, and provides detailed, high-resolution digital imaging of eye movements, along with instant analysis, comprehensive reporting and video recording.

The high-speed recording of eye movements - 60 to 90 frames per second, more than twice as fast as the human eye processes images - enhances clinical accuracy of testing and diagnosis. It also supports reimbursements from Medicare and insurance carriers, and is the closest commercially affordable video eye-tracking system to the pending standards from the American National Standards Institute (ANSI).

The system also features true smooth pursuit, both horizontal and vertical, through its Pursuit Tracker(TM) laser diode stimulus. An enhanced version of the I-Portal VNG, called I-Portal Super VNG, includes full-field OKN oculomotor stimuli and Subjective Visual Vertical/Horizontal Tests. I- Portal VNG’s modular design gives users the flexibility to optimize the system configuration based upon current needs and budget, and then upgrade later as funding permits.

“We are offering audiologists and other clinicians the ability to offer the highest-quality in-office patient balance and dizziness testing with the added benefit of a positive revenue model,” said Mark Burchfield, Neuro Kinetics sales director.

“With I-Portal’s unparalleled detail and accuracy of horizontal, vertical and torsional eye movements, clinicians have a valuable new tool for detecting a wide range of balance, central and peripheral disorders and diseases,” said Dr. Alexander Kiderman, Neuro Kinetics chief technology officer. “We believe we are offering the most advanced balance and vestibular diagnostics tool on the market today.”

The various components in the I-Portal VNG are controlled by NKI’s VEST(TM) software, VNG Edition, with preset protocols that prompt the operator efficiently through a series of tests and then generate detailed reports for patient files and insurance documentation. The software includes all standard and reimbursable VNG tests with upgrades available for advanced procedures.
