(NasdaqNM: NTEC) today announced that the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has granted U.S. Patent 7,214,660 covering the Company’s GlycoPEGylated erythropoietin (NE-180). The patent, entitled “Erythropoietin: remodeling and glycoconjugation of erythropoietin,” includes covalent conjugates of an erythropoietin peptide and a poly(ethylene)glycol and methods of forming covalent conjugates between an erythropoietin peptide and a water-soluble polymer. This patent provides protection specific to GlycoPEGylated erythropoietin, including NE-180, in addition to existing patent protection for NE-180 and all GlycoPEGylated peptides. This is the sixth issued patent in a series of pending patent applications directed toward the company’s broad GlycoConjugation™ technology platform.
