Simians may now hold a new hope for Parkinson’s patients as a new research published in the Journal of Clinical Investigation, has found that monkey stem cells can be used to repair the brain damage caused by the disease. The research carried out by Dr Jun Takahashi and colleagues of the Kyoto University team has found that when stem cells are grown into the brain cells or neurons, that are damaged in Parkinson’s disease, they seem to have a protective effect on dopamine-producing neurons.
