SAN DIEGO, May 4, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- To provide pain management practitioners and other healthcare professionals with additional educational tools to help address practice challenges, Millennium Laboratories, a leading provider of prescription drug monitoring services, is funding educational grants for a new pain management webinar series. The first webinar in the series, “‘MAD’ MisuseAddictionDiversion, Proactive Approaches for Your Practice” is scheduled for kickoff on Thursday, May 5th at 12 noon PDT and will repeat on May 19th and May 26th. The webinar is made possible by an education grant from Millennium Laboratories to the West Virginia Society of Interventional Pain Physicians (WVSIPP). The WVSIPP is organizing the free webinar series in conjunction with Millennium.

Designed to fit into healthcare professionals’ busy practice schedule and featuring relevant and timely topics, the 45-minute webinars will be broadcast live in a practical and convenient format. The “‘MAD’ MisuseAddiction Diversion, Proactive Approaches for Your Practice” webinar will repeat for three Thursdays in May covering lunch hours in three U.S. time zones. Future webinars on cutting-edge topics will also be offered free of charge and follow the format of three Thursdays in the same month at lunch time.
The first webinar on May 5th, “‘MAD’ MisuseAddictionDiversion, Proactive Approaches for Your Practice,” will provide an overview of effective techniques to help practices meet regulatory and compliance standards. The webinar presenter is Michelle Byers, Director of Education, West Virginia Society of Interventional Pain Physicians (WVSIPP). Byers joined WVSIPP in 2008 and is focused on developing continuing medical education that is relevant and impactful to clinicians treating pain. The webinar presentation will also cover risk assessment strategies and current approaches to monitoring patients through urine drug testing. The webinar will be of educational value to pain management physicians, pain management practice staff, family practice physicians and other healthcare professionals.
