CERRITOS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Millennium Dental Technologies, Inc. (MDT), pioneers of the patented LANAP™ protocol for the treatment of gum disease, today announced receipt of the Conformité Européenne (CE) certification for its PerioLase® MVP-7™ , a 6-watt free-running variable pulsed Nd:YAG dental laser featuring digital technology and seven pulse durations. The CE marking certifies that the product has met European Union (EU) health and safety standards and is approved for sale within EU countries and members of the European Free Trade Association (EFTA).
“It is an honor to receive this CE marking, which reinforces the high quality of the PerioLase® MVP-7™ and opens the door for introducing the LANAP™ protocol in the EU and other markets,” shared Dr. Delwin McCarthy, Chief Technology Officer for Millennium Dental Technologies, Inc. and Vice Present of The Institute for Advanced Laser Dentistry. “Our objective has always been to provide patients worldwide with the benefits of less invasive, less painful gum disease treatment, and this CE marking will allow us to accomplish this mission by strengthening our ability to penetrate European markets.”
Cautious expansion has enabled Millennium Dental Technologies to solidify its presence in the United States and prime the company to establish a greater international presence within the next 2-3 years—addressing pent up demand for the LANAP™ protocol and PerioLase® MVP-7™ digital dental laser. The PerioLase® MVP-7 is only sold as a part of the PerioLase Periodontal Package™. Thus, international clinicians will need to travel to the United States to participate in the LANAP Training Continuum™—a comprehensive, live-patient, hands-on training program that dentists undergo to ensure that they are safe and effective in the LANAP™ technique—until training facilities are established internationally.
The PerioLase® MVP-7™ digital dental laser’s conformity assessment, essential for earning CE marking, was completed by Intertek Product Testing, the world’s largest independent testing, inspection and certification partner. As an unbiased third party, Intertek evaluated the PerioLase® MVP-7™ for electrical safety, design, manufacturing processes and performance, then provided the comprehensive results for review to the notified body, the England-based AMTAC Certification Services, Ltd.
