The two are working together to increase drug prevention and treatment services throughout Maryland. Gimbel was the first director of Baltimore County’s Office of Substance Abuse in 1980, where he served for 25 years. Now, Gimbel works as the host of the syndicated drug education television show “Straight Talk” for 30 years. Gimbel has begun working alongside Amatus in a fight to bring awareness to the opioid epidemic, which recently surpassed car crashes as the leading cause of accidental deaths in the United States.
