MedPro Imaging Launches MedPro Vet

WAUKESHA, Wis., April 9, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- MedPro Imaging, a premium provider of ultrasound solutions, today announced the creation of MedPro Vet, a new division offering a variety of ultrasound products and repair services dedicated to the veterinary market. In addition to selling new, used and demo equipment from virtually every ultrasound manufacturer, MedPro Vet is also launching the first dedicated veterinary probe repair lab in the world. With the creation of MedPro Vet, the company promoted Neil Walendy to director, US Veterinary Sales.

“MedPro was founded on the goal of offering our customers the highest quality ultrasound products at the best price with industry leading service. By delivering on this premise, we now sell virtually every brand into every discipline of medicine. It is this leverage that will translate into savings for veterinarians,” said Charles Jahnke, president and CEO of MedPro Imaging. “MedPro Vet’s customer base will span the breadth of the veterinary market. We can provide economically priced screening ultrasound systems to the price conscious buyer, or the most current marquis platforms for the specialty market or university settings.”

MedPro Vet has already developed a reputation for delivering premium demo or recertified GE ultrasound to veterinarians. Brian Maxwell, DVM and managing partner of Adobe Animal Hospital in Los Altos, Calif. stated, “When we moved into a new state-of-the-art location in 2010 we decided to revamp our radiology department, and added a GE Logiq 7 and GE Logiq 9. The image quality is fantastic and Neil helped us acquire these machines at an extraordinary price.”

MedPro Vet is also proud to announce a partnership with Siemens Ultrasound as their exclusive distributor in the veterinary market. “The Siemens X300 offers the best performance-per-dollar ratio when comparing its image quality, feature sets and price to similar systems from other manufacturers. And the S2000, SC2000 and S1000 from Siemens will prove to have their place in the market with those specialists who demand the most current technology,” according to Walendy.

MedPro’s Waukesha facilities will also house the world’s first dedicated veterinary probe repair lab. Maintaining MedPro’s repair-first model, probe repairs for the Vet market will focus on micro-convex probe lenses damaged by needles during cystos and FNAs. In addition to replacing lenses, MedPro Vet’s probe repair lab can replace probe connectors, housings, cables, strain reliefs, arrays and re-terminate arrays amongst a list of other more technical repairs.

“Within our 25 hospitals we manage 33 ultrasound machines and more than twice as many probes. Before we found our way to MedPro Vet’s probe repair facilities, replacement was the only option for dealing with damaged probes. We are saving a considerable amount of money by repairing probes for a fraction of the replacement cost,” said Nancy Northstein, director of purchasing for BluePearl Veterinary Partners, Specialty Hospital Group.

“MedPro Vet plans on capturing system service in the veterinary market in addition to probe repairs. There is a very large market segment of veterinarians who bought portable GE ultrasound who now have aging systems and strategically opt out of extended service contracts,” said Walendy. “With significant experience servicing and repairing the whole line of portable GE systems, including the GE LogiqBook and Logiq E, at our Waukesha, WI facilities, we can offer veterinarians preventative maintenance checks and cost-effective repairs that will increase the performance of their machines.”

With more than 13 years experience selling capital medical equipment, Walendy joined MedPro Imaging in 2009 and has been selling into the veterinary market while also working heavily in the traditional healthcare market. He started selling ultrasound by working exclusively in the veterinary market with Sound Technologies in 2003. Furthering his experience in all around ultrasound sales, he also worked for United Medical Instruments from 2007-2008. After graduating from the University of Iowa with a bachelor’s degree in communications and a business minor, Walendy began his career in sales as a regional manager with WorldPoint ECC, an emergency cardiovascular products company that was one of the first to distribute life-saving automated external defibrillators to the private sector.
