Adaptation Health in partnership with the Center for Health Care Strategies has been invited by the Director of the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS)–Arizona’s single-state Medicaid system, to organize and deliver a Medicaid Innovation Challenge on March 29, 2019 in Phoenix, Arizona.

NEW ORLEANS, /PRNewswire/ -- Adaptation Health in partnership with the Center for Health Care Strategies has been invited by the Director of the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS)–Arizona’s single-state Medicaid system, to organize and deliver a Medicaid Innovation Challenge on March 29, 2019 in Phoenix, Arizona. The Medicaid Innovation Challenge is an exclusive opportunity for pioneering vendors (non-profit and for-profit) to collaborate with the seven managed care organizations (MCO) in Arizona, and discuss what value their solution can bring to Arizona Medicaid in addressing Social Determinants of Health (SDOH) and Digital Member Engagement.

There is growing need to foster connections between innovative vendors and the Medicaid purchasers (MCOs and State Medicaid agencies). Arizona Medicaid Deputy Director, Jami Snyder says, “Arizona is excited to participate in this process as a leader in Medicaid innovation. We see strong value in this project bringing together plans, Medicaid thought leaders, and new vendors. We want to create a case for change and believe that through this request for application and showcase we can provide plan leaders with the tools and capacity to identify promising vendors to address the next generation of challenges in Medicaid delivery.”

Identified through collaboration with AHCCCS and MCOs, the Challenge will focus on the following areas:

1. Social Determinants of Health (SDOH)
There is a growing need to ensure that Medicaid enrollees have effective access to SDOH services and supports available in their communities. The Arizona Medicaid system is in need of a solution to improve SDOH risk identification and facilitate enrollee connections to SDOH services.

The solution must address at least one of the following criteria: (1) identify individual risk factors among Medicaid beneficiaries; (2) create referrals for SDOH services; and (3) provide feedback on referral outcomes.

2. Digital Member Engagement
There are an increasing number of Medicaid beneficiaries who are, for a variety of reasons, are not optimally engaged in their own care. Ultimately, this lack of engagement may contribute to poor health outcomes and increased costs to health care systems.

Thus, there is a need for engagement technologies to assist individuals in better managing their care, accessing appropriate services, and empowering them to adopt healthier behaviors. Solutions must provide mechanisms to effectively engage beneficiaries across various populations and geographies from high risk to rising risk, and must demonstrate applicability to low-income populations.

For innovative vendors interested in applying to pitch at the Challenge, an application can be found at www.adaptationhealth.org/medicaid-innovation-challenges. A committee of Medicaid experts will select several of the top qualifying companies to present their solutions.

For those interested in attending, registration is open for digital access to live stream the event.
