Kyowa Hakko Kogyo Co., Ltd. To Expand Its Fuji Plant And Accelerate R&D For Antibody Drugs; Company To Invest Up To $ 34.7 Million

Tokyo, June 23, 2006 (JCN) - Kyowa Hakko Kogyo announced on June 21 that it has decided to construct new facilities at its Fuji Plant. Specifically, the company will invest 3-4 billion yen (US$26.0-34.7 mil) to build GMP-compliant facilities for animal cell culture/purification. Construction will begin in early 2007, and commercial operations will start in the first quarter of 2009. With this move, the company aims to reinforce the research and develop system of antibody drugs for clinical trial use.
