Kelly Scientific Resources: Third Annual Salary Survey Reveals High Employee Morale in the Southeast

TROY, MI--(Marketwire - November 10, 2009) - According to findings from Lab Manager Magazine’s third annual salary survey, employee morale has generally remained high in the Southeast despite the state of the current economy. This is the first year that Kelly Scientific Resources, a specialty service of Kelly Services, Inc. (NASDAQ: KELYA) (NASDAQ: KELYB), has sponsored the survey with Lab Manager Magazine.

Throughout the Southeast, survey respondents are generally optimistic about both their current positions and their future careers, in spite of the uncertain conditions of the region’s economy. Around 75 percent of survey respondents feel that their current positions are secure while 80 percent of respondents believe they are valued by their management teams.

The survey also revealed that although only 42 percent of respondents believe their organizations offer ample advancement opportunities, a majority of respondents still think that their career goals are being advanced through their current positions nevertheless. Despite the lack of career advancements, Southeast respondents do tend to display loyalty towards their organizations for more than four years on average.

In the meantime, the survey also found that respondents in the Southeast tend to earn less money annually than respondents in other regions of the nation. Regardless of a lower average income, Southeast survey respondents are just as satisfied with their positions as respondents in the Midwest, Northeast, and West, showing that employees are seeking to add value to their work, not through their annual salaries, but through the positive impacts that their positions have on society.

Harvey Yau, science product manager with Kelly Scientific Resources, believes that the positive results of the survey show that Southeast science employees are truly passionate about their careers and roles in society.

“In spite of a continuously challenging economy, Southeasterners are still satisfied with their current jobs and the impacts their positions have on society,” said Yau. “Southeast science employees seem to be committed to their current positions and industries.”
