A Mission-based medical device company is banking on almost $1.6 million in Kansas Bioscience Authority grants to help boost its product portfolio and increase its workforce almost tenfold.
The KBA’s investment committee approved the grants for Epic Medical Concepts & Innovations Inc. last month. The award still must gain a green light from the full board next month.
If successful, however, company officials expect the money to speed production on almost a dozen products, which would require EMCI to go from 12 employees to as many as 140 in five years.
