Boston Scientific’s Watchman heart device will have only limited Medicare coverage if a federal proposal goes through.
The Watchman, a left atrial appendage closure (LAAC) device, prevents strokes by stopping blood clots in the heart from reaching the brain. More than 10 years in the making, it won FDA approval in March.
Boston Sci’s stock slid on Tuesday following the announcement from the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).
