Dublin, Ireland, 27 November, 2013 – ICON plc, (NASDAQ: ICLR) a global provider of outsourced development services to the pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical device industries, today announced that it has appointed Mr. Manuel Ploch as General Manager, Japan. In this role Manuel will lead all of ICON’s operations in the region, which include offices in Tokyo and Osaka.
Manuel Ploch brings to ICON over 18 years of operational experience in the Japanese pharmaceutical R&D market. Prior to ICON, Manuel acted as an independent consultant to a number of US, European and Asian pharmaceutical and biotech companies entering the Japanese market, providing strategic advice on areas including market entry strategies, licensing and general management. Prior to this, Manuel was General Manager Japan for a global CRO and he also held senior financial roles with F. Hoffmann – La Roche AG / Nippon Roche K.K. Manuel is an Adjunct Professor in the University of Tsukuba, Graduate School of Business Sciences in Tokyo. He graduated from the University of Bamberg, Germany and also holds an MBA with the Walter A. Haas School of Business at the University of California at Berkeley, USA.
