More than 300 million medical pads used for injections in hospitals across America have been recalled over fears they may have been infected with life-threatening bacteria. A haemophiliac patient developed a potentially fatal bacterial infection after a contaminated wipe was used during an infusion, according to a Food and Drug Administration inspection report. Months after Pacific Disposables International, the company which supplies the non-sterile pads, was urged to recall the items, it finally complied late last month.
