CHICAGO, IL--(Marketwire - April 12, 2010) - Hu-Friedy, a global leader in the manufacture of dental instruments, today announced a significant expansion of its Environdent program, the longest-running instrument recycling program in the dental industry.
Hu-Friedy’s Environdent program was launched in 1995 to help keep dental practices “green.” The program was designed to encourage recycling by affording customers with the benefit of receiving value for used, broken, and re-tipped instruments by offering free products as an incentive. Instead of being sent to landfills as waste, instruments are sent to metal scrap recyclers who use them for non-medical applications.
In celebration of its 15th anniversary, the Environdent program is being updated to make it more accessible and attractive to customers. Previously, the program provided clinicians with the opportunity to earn free products by recycling used instruments and purchasing new instruments. Now, to better demonstrate Hu-Friedy’s commitment to the program, the Company has eliminated the need for dental offices to purchase instruments in order to benefit from Environdent. Dental professionals can simply recycle twelve used instruments from any manufacturer and receive a free Hu-Friedy instrument of their choice.
