When Invitae (NASDAQ: NVTA) last year leased the 103,000-square-foot former home of dressmaker Jessica McClintock Inc. — just a few blocks west of Mission Bay on 16th Street — it pushed the boundaries of biotech in the city. There are scattered life sciences companies South of Market, including Invitae currently, but for the most part Mission Bay is San Francisco’s biotech hub.
