Hackers Develop Apps To Help MS Patients

Two hackers from out of state earned $20,000 last weekend for developing an app to help people living with multiple sclerosis stay calm. Jeri Burtchell of Florida and Matt Winslow of North Carolina were part of “Team Stay Calm,” which won top honors at Hack MS, which was sponsored by Biogen Idec. The two-day event in Boston’s Innovation District was held by the Cambridge drug company best known for drugs to treat the neurodegenerative disease. According to some studies, stress can be associated with fatigue, confusion, and worsening of symptoms in such patients.
