Western New York’s premier radiology group will leverage EMPI technology to create a fully-integrated, de-duplicated RIS and imaging network
PASADENA, Calif., May 14, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- NextGate, the global leader in healthcare enterprise identification, announced today it has been selected as the vendor of choice by Great Lakes Medical Imaging (GLMI), one of the largest diagnostic imaging services provider in Western New York, to provide unprecedented patient record matching accuracy for informed clinical-decision making and improved care team effectiveness. NextGate will implement its cloud-based Enterprise Master Patient Index (EMPI) technology to support GLMI’s growing radiology network with a single, consolidated view of a patient’s clinical data and imaging files.
Cross-system data exchange and accurate patient identification are critical to the success of GLMI, which is comprised of five full-service imaging centers and conducts diagnostic services for multiple regional hospitals, including Erie County Medical Center and Kaleida Health. GLMI was actively seeking a patient identity solution that would eliminate silos of information, prevent record duplication, and deliver complete visibility into a patient’s care history for accurate image interpretation and collaborative care management.
NextGate’s market-leading EMPI will not only help to centralize GLMI’s RIS and imaging data at an enterprise level, but also automate patient record matching to accommodate incoming electronic orders as part of a new partnership with Western New York Urology Associates. Additionally, the EMPI will support GLMI’s transition to the cloud, a critical enabler of achieving aggressive growth goals and incorporating value-added services.
“Radiology as a field is embracing patient matching technology as a means to enable informative care decisioning and integrate various, and otherwise fragmented, health information,” said Dr. Jonathan Marshall, President of GLMI. “NextGate will play a critical role in ensuring our radiologists have the deepest level of insight while providing a seamless, undisrupted workflow that will positively influence the health and well-being of our patients.”
NextGate’s flagship EMPI solution, which manages patient identities for more than two-thirds of the U.S. population, empowers providers by linking medical records in any given system and reconciling data discrepancies across multiple settings with a single best record.
“Incomplete or inaccurate data in one’s health record can be detrimental to patient safety and a major impediment to providing well-coordinated, individualized care,” said Andy Aroditis, CEO of NextGate. “We commend GLMI for prioritizing patient identification as the basis for interoperability and improved efficiency and are honored to support their network with a fully-integrated, automated solution that consistently and correctly matches individuals to their health data.”
