Attendees represent notable industry, academia, regulatory and government agencies, health, patient, and philanthropic organizations. DIA 2016 will be held from June 26-30, 2016 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia, Pa.

“DIA convenes the many stakeholders involved in health care product development to address and resolve today’s most challenging issues,” said Barbara Lopez Kunz, global chief executive, DIA. “Globally, health care product development is changing quickly. DIA 2016 provides the opportunity for attendees to engage in timely, thought-provoking sessions on international regulatory convergence, U.S. and EU outcomes-based health care, value-based health care decision-making, protocol development, the future of big data, and the future of collaboration,” she said.

The global annual meeting, in its 52nd year, will draw attendees from 51 countries for the five-day conference, which also features a three-day expo with more than 450 exhibitors. DIA 2016 will look different from any previous DIA global annual meeting. The program will include over 175 sessions in more than 22 tracks on today’s hottest topics ranging from drug development to clinical trial safety.

DIA 2016 will feature a keynote address from Dr. Larry Brilliant, acting chairman of the Board of the Skoll Global Threats Fund, who is confronting global threats like pandemics, climate change and nuclear proliferation. Dr. Brilliant’s presentation will take place at 2:30 p.m. on June 27, 2016. New Features for DIA 2016

At the meeting, innovative perspectives will be shared in new ways. New features include DIAmond Sessions and Engage and Exchange (E&E) Sessions. Also new this year are the Sunday Professional Development sessions, which offer interactive programming on improving presentation and networking skills.

DIAmond Sessions bring together innovators from industry, academia, and government agencies to discuss key concepts and today’s priorities. Sessions include: International Regulatory Convergence, Collaboration, and Cooperation; The Future of Big Data; Europe and the U.S.: Making Outcomes-Based Health Care Possible; and Value-Based Health Care Decision Making: The Quest for Smarter Spending.

The new E&E Sessions allow attendees to exchange best practices and work with fellow attendees to find solutions to common challenges that can be implemented right away. Topics include patient involvement, risk-based monitoring in clinical trials, patient centricity in clinical trials, and analyzing how big data and artificial intelligence will change our regulatory environment.

Global Regulatory Presence

Bringing regulators together has been a consistent hallmark of the DIA global annual meeting. DIA 2016’s Regulatory Town Hall sessions will give attendees unprecedented opportunities to interact with high-profile officials from global, regional, and national regulatory and government agencies.

In addition, DIA 2016 offers a Professional Poster Program, which gives presenters an opportunity to display their research to a diverse group of scientific professionals actively involved in the discovery, development and life cycle management of pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, medical devices, and health care related products.

Networking

DIA 2016 also offers ample networking opportunities for attendees. Those attending DIA 2016 for the first time are encouraged to attend the Annual Meeting Orientation and Networking Session to learn how to make the most of DIA 2016. Coffee breaks and extended lunch hours are offered throughout the meeting to provide additional networking opportunities.

The Philadelphia Convention & Visitors Bureau estimates DIA 2016 will generate $20 million in economic impact for the city.
